History

lorelei is a three piece group that created a blueprint for post-rock with the Everyone Must Touch the Stove full-length lp/cd on Slumberland Records. Fractured songstructures and a dynamic sonic pallette have helped lorelei stand the test of time.

A complete band discography is maintained by Stephen Gardner, better know as Chessie. Davis White currently records in a few projects. One time lorelei guitarist Dave Cerf is now a member of Threnody Ensemble.

We recorded a cover of Silver Apples' Osciallations just before going on hiatus. The cover appeared on a cd compilation that is possibly no longer in print thus we've provided the mp3 below.

In addition, here is an early version of Today's Shrug, the first track on Everybody Must Touch the Stove. It was salvaged along with some other 4 track recordings. It is certainly not better than what ended up on the album but is presented here so folks can hear how we processed demos into better tracks.

If You Don't Try, Nothing Ever Happens

"If You Don't Try, Nothing Ever Happens" debuted at Signal 66 12/29/00. Robert Salsbury's tour diary of lorelei's disastrous UK trip. All three lorelei members were on-hand to perform and exhibit their latest. The first 50 attendees received a free textilesounds sampler cd that features a brand new track by lorelei. Video of the Signal 66 event is available (35 MB quicktime). Davis White has an excellent summary and photos of the event.
